    which would you buy?

in the first quarter of next year, i'll be making the jump.. I've been noticing that the good condition used d3's are falling into the $27/2800 range, which is about what a gripped d700 would cost new... Thoughts?

Of course, there's always the used gripped d700's for $21/2200 that might just be enough of a price dip to lore me...

I went with the gripped D700 because I like the option to carry the camera without a grip. I probably use it 50% with the grip and 50% without.

I personally don't think the D3 has $600 more in features than the gripped D700. :dunno:

cleaner viewfinder, dual slots, and ENEL4a battery, shutter. If you like these, D3.
    Otherwise...D700.

Personally D3 for the ~100% VF. I can't stand having to crop my pictures because the camera "added" more around the frame than how I captured a scene.

I'd go D3 mainly for the VF, ability to record memos to shots, and the dual cards.

D3 as well because I like the faster frame rate and the LCD on the grip to change ISO/WB/Image quality. Also, the dual CF slots is really helpful.

my D700 has failed me FOUR times since I got it (about a year ago:new). For that reason alone I'd go with the D3. As soon as the D800 comes out I'm getting rid of the 700.
