:dunno: if it's because I was so used to my old ass crt monitor or what.

whenever I have the lights down and i'm on my comp. my eyes hurt more with the lcd then they did with the crt.

    any settings or reasons why?

    it's a 17inch samsung syncmaster 712n

    same thing with my laptop.

i think its because lcd's put out so little light compared to a crt.

solution: dont watch it in the dark :)

Put ClearType on and tune the brightness down to 50% and incrementally up as needed.

Refresh rate is not important with LCDs; it does not use an electron gun.

60 Hz is appropriate refresh rate for most LCDS. don't set it any higher or lower.

I've always had better luck with a CRT compared to an LCD. My laptop drives me crazy and at work I gave up one of the few LCDs in the office for a nice heavy CRT. I've heard that it takes a few days to get used to the LCD if you are used to CRTs.

    CRT forevar!
