So, I have an old school Range Rover. It looks like this:

I'm pricing new engines, and it's going to cost $15-$18k for a turn key engine replacement.

I love this truck, and will never sell it, but that's a good bit of money to spend on a truck that's hardly worth $5,000.

So, should I do the engine swap and build the ultimate Range Rover, or should I just buy a new Jeep Wrangler Unlmited?

Screw that, there's no way that should cost $15k.

I bet you could source a motor from a junkyard for 1000 bucks and have it rebuilt for another 1500.

I'll vouch for that as well. It gets really shitty gas mileage, but it's a cool fucking truck.

dont buy a project car unless you're loaded and don't care, or can do the work yourself.

    you are neither

60 hours of labor to do a motor swap?

Do they at least use the oil from the old motor to lube you up before ramming the crankshaft up your ass?

What does reliability have to with this? I'm upgrading for power, not because of mechanical issues.

Yeah, if you don't mind suicide doors, huge blind spots, rear windows that don't go down...the list goes on.
