lolz, well the old 5000 has 8v preouts and the 5001 is down to 5v. It seems that the biggest change is connectivity which isnt all that important to me anyway.

they look cheaper in appearance, than when we dropped them for the high failure rate.

the 07 alpines are showing life
pioneer is actualy starting to make a descent product
clarion has a few nice yet EXPENSIVE decks.

this is why i run high end EQ's :sad2:

i think getting a deck these days is a compromise, but it always seems to be that whenever you are getting something like this there is some sort of compromise, id rather take a deck that has a few compromises then waiting for the market to turn in the direction i want it to, especially in car audio, i like decent car audio but when im driving at 80mph im not exactly worried about linearity and delicate nuances in my music .

because really, when are you actually paying all that much attention to your music on a regular day.

i think the best solution is to just go on a case by case basis, see what you like and get it, who cares what other peoples opinions are really. this is why i dont read all that many reviews anymore, if someone says somethings good i might look into it but at the end of the day everyones different and i think dismissing lines of decks as bad isnt the greatest idea, because im sure some people will buy them and they will have their reasons.

I am still a big fan of Pioneer Headunits. I was a big fan of alpine, until recently when I ran into some problems with 2 different headunits. Eclipse overall makes a good product, but I personally do not like their products. They do look pretty tho. However, the thing that turned me off on their products was the lack of a removable faceplate. That crucial for me, as I am in college, and I need to pull the plate when I park my car for weeks at a time.

yeah my 5000 isnt detachable but where it will be mounted its going to be semi stealth and it will have a nice car alarm etc
