if you can hit 275 for 5, you can hit 300+

i do deads/squats at the beginning of my workout when you have energy.

if you're going for a 1rm, don't do 5 reps within 90% of your 1rm. keep it spaced and do sets of 3 reps or 1 reps and build up to your max. you can hit 300 :)

Nice work, you should have 315 no problem really soon.

nice. i PR'd on deadlift last week too.

    i did something like

    135 x 10
    225 x 3
    275 x 1
315 x 1 (half fail, i lost grip cause i was actualy moving the weight too fast, plus no chalk at the time)
    315 x 1 complete with chalk
    335 x 1 w/ chalk
    315 x1 w/ chalk

    bw : ~158

my previous PR was 315 but it was a pretty ugly pull.

you should be able to hit 315 x 1 if you hit 275 x 5.
and thanks to gtlifter advising me to switch to the hook grip, I'm able to get 275 and 315 up with no straps (can't use chalk in my gym), though my grip does slip a bit still.

i dunno, 275 goes up like cake for me. 315 isn't so bad. i'll do doubles and triples with that (what i did today). but 335 demanded the chalk.

I was humbled by 315 today :wtc:

I was using 25 lb plates instead of 45's because I know for a fact that I'm weak out of the hole, but 295 was pretty easy, judging by that I was expecting to get 325+. I think I hung around a little too long and was intimidated by the weight though. :hs:

Then after failing 2-3 times an inch or two off the ground I did pin pulls and barely got 315 for 1 before I realized I was supposed to be doing reps.

I obviously need to work on this. :wtc:

EDIT: The reason I spent so much time messing around between 295 and 315 was because I was going to use a belt for that rep and couldn't find a position where it felt right. So i tossed it off and got to it.

yea, some gyms dont have it. at college i steal it from the rock climbers. and i was at my old highschool gym i had to deadlift on a practicly smooth bar with no chalk... i did 315 5 times or so. but had to stop inbetween each for drying my hands, drying the bar, letting my grip get back a bit.
