I am looking to build a new desktop here in the next month or two and was wondering if any of you have put together a build recently that I could look at your components. I want a good gaming and graphic intensive rig. I play games and use a lot of CAD software as and engineer. I am also looking to spend around 1500$ and probably not to much more then that.

I would say it depends on if you are doing more CAD work or more games. If you are doing more CAD, you would be better off with the Nvidia Quadro series cards... otherwise, the 7900 GTX would be the way to go.

I would say I do more games. I usually use computers at school for my CAD but like to be able to take it home with me if I need to. I usually just spend time playing games and listening to music. Basically I need a great multi tasking pc that can also kick ass in the graphics department

Yeah for games then, look at the 7900 series and go with the fastest your budget will allow.
