so last week I competed at naga, in 149 no gi advanced I drew Noah Booth (brown belt) as my first opponent. Score was 2-2 when time ran out (although I think I should have been awarded another 2 points for a single leg i got). They made us do 2 more minutes overtime, he gets a takedown and wins 4-2.

The people I went with didn't get to film my gi matches that day, I triangled my first opponent and then lost a questionable 2-2 "advantage" match (not trying to make excuses, I passed the guys guard at the end and he gets an advantage for reverse triangling my head).

Yesterday, I competed at WKA east coast grappling (http://www.usgrappling.us/events/richmond04282007/index.php) and took first place in both 149 lbs blue belt and open weight blue belt winning all of my matches (5 total). Definitely was a challenge in terms of cardio and also choosing a smart gameplan for each opponent.

It's been about 3.5 years since I first started training, definitely feel like I've made at least minor improvements every time I competed. Please leave any criticism/comments after viewing the videos.

naga intermediate is between 2-5 years, advanced is 5+ i think. For the WKA, advanced is 3+ but there were only 2 people in my no gi division (noah booth again, and david jacobs). They didn't want to fight each other since they were both from yamasaki... so they canceled the division and I got a free entry to the blue belt absolute division.

why dont you wait until youre at least a purple until you do advanced? i think its hard to really make a dent in it without more experience.

yeah I do want to learn from the experience, but also at least in naga/grapplers quest they don't let you do the intermediate division anymore if you've placed first in it.

oh and congrats again on your win! :bigthumb:

its good to edit a little highlight for competitions and stuff... makes it so a lot more people see it. grappling just isnt the most exciting sport to watch unless you have some attachment to the person youre weatching.

When guard passing, look at the holes you're leaving and work on your weight distribution.
