How bad ass would it be to have the 30" in your room and a G5, you couild use it for work and then as a TV at night. What is horribly gay is that they don't have some sort of remote control/video input on the monitor. I was hoping for something like that.
True, it would be great to have TV stuff built in, although the $299 ElGato EyeTV 500 is a great add-on. It gives you HDTV and regular TV tuning as well as DVR functionality. If you have the money for a G5 and the 30" TV, I don't think $299 is too much more to pay for the nice DVR functionality.
The 30 incher is freaking insane. I can't imagine using something big as a monitor. 19 inches is pretty damn big to me.
if you own a bluetooth phone you can grab the program "Romeo" for free, and assign scripts to the functions you'd want on a remote I have a SonyEricsson T610 and lemme tell you, it's pimpin' to control iTunes from any room in the apartment with a phone, same goes for DVD Player, PowerPoint / Keynote, etc.
the girl I was with at the time said I was a huge dork for doing that though
I use that too. There's also a great program, i forget the name but I'll find it, that can flash the name of someone calling you on screen when you recieve a call and let you answer it through the computer using your iSight.
I started fucking around by installing Romeo on my gf 12" PB and using the phone to control the mouse. The second she saw it moving on her own, she was like "you dork". Then she asked me how to do it
Another cool thing you can do with iTunes and remote playing...
Tivo's home media option lets you access your entire iTunes and iPhoto libraries through your Tivo and play it back over your stereo.
well she's not with us anymore
that is to say she dumped me
you mean talk through the mic on the iSight? I must have the name of this app
By the way, just for everyone's information, the address book app will pop up with a caller ID window and options on how to direct the call (answer, voicemail, etc.) as long as you enable bluetooth on your paired phone, and click the BT icon in address book. There is more than one app out there that does this but I don't understand WTF anyone created it, since the OS has it built-in and (IMO) does a better job
i'll check tomorrow at work.
if anyone here HASN'T watched the Apple WWDC Keynote from the other day yet, it's definitely worth watching! In addition to the new displays, they demo everything new they just released as well as stuff coming soon, features of Tiger, etc.
There's a link to it on this page...
I just can't understand paying so much for a monitor. Sure, it's awesome, but aside from professional graphic designers, who pays $3300 for a monitor?
they are nice monitors but rather pricy. i like the doublesight monitors. for $750 i was able to purchase a doublesight dual 15". basically its two 15 inch displays in one case and they are great displays too. its super widescreen and works great with my cube. i would suggest this display to anyone. mac or pc.
The new 30inch screen r nuts. Ive got a 23inch and when they 1st came out the price was up there, but 30inch I would buy 1
no english, no care
any word on that app?
sorry, i've been in and out of the hospital visiting a family member the past few days, I haven't gone into work.
