I just bought a new car. Its got 5k miles on it now and I just got it before winter. As soon as I know all the snow will melt and not snow again I'm going to wax my car. My question is I'm going to get a clear bra for it but do I want to put it on before or after I wax for the first time? Also when you wax your car again once its put on how do you wax the front with the bra on?

Also the car was a dealer show room car so they didn't have to wash the car before I got it. So there isn't any swirl marks. Is there anything special I should do with my car since its new and hasn't ever been waxed before then you would do with a car that is old and has been waxed 100 times?

    1. Stop waiting. The main function of wax is to protect your paint. Wax it now.

    2. Anyone who knows how to properly apply a clear bra knows enough to do an alcohol (or similar wax stripping) wipedown before application.

    3. If you have swirls, scratches, etc, remove them as best as you can before having a clear bra installed.

    4. You can wax right over clear bras.

To answer your second post, you may need to clay the car if after washing the paint isn't perfectly smooth. Do that before waxing.

Read the Detailing EDU, that ought to help you out a lot.
