Adobe has a raw profiler in beta right now for camera color calibration. They've also produced profiles for almost every raw shooting camera out there.

    http://labs.adobe.com/wiki/index.php/DNG_Profiles

Nikons all have D2X like color profiles :bowdown: as a bonus.

Download this now if you're a ACR user or shoot raw and use lightroom.

Yea, so I got it and changed to Adobe Standard Beta in LR2, it cleaned up the pic a bit but now how do I make it the standard import option?

It simply helps to match your camera to Lightroom's color calibration afaik.

    Explanation:

These new profiles are actually designed to give proper color rendition SPECIFIC to your cameras sensor and processor.

Even though you can't see it, when it says 'camera xxx' That is specific to the model of camera in the exif data.

So now, where Adam and I used to have issues with the way lightroom and ACR rendered the color red, Adobe is answering the call and attempting to give us the proper colors that you would have only gotten from using your manufacturers specific raw developer.

No clue if it worked yet, but the fact that they're trying is

    an easy test:

Take something that you know to be red in real life, then set it to ACR 4.4.

This is what you would have been given by Adobe before today.

Now pick one of your camera specific settings.

This is what your manufacturer's software would have given you.

    WORLD of difference, amirite?

I don't have see any camera specific settings at all under LR2.0 after installing that color profile.

I see ACR 4.4, 4.3, adobe standard, 3 D2X profiles, landscape, neutral, portrait etc etc, nothing camera specific. What did I do wrong!?!?! :noes:

Those profiles are all specific to your Nikon and correspond to the settings in your camera.

There's no reason to ever use Capture NX after this.

The reason this is so awesome is that in the past color calibration to match a given camera profile you're shooting with or using the camera's jpeg output you can now match when shooting raw and using Lightroom/Photoshop in post.

Using the DNG profiler you can also make your own profiles for precise color calibration on your camera. The reason it's so awesome is it also allows you to adjust color curves and level with different white balance so the Lightroom adjustments mimic proper manipulation of these setting on your camera.

I don't like the naming, but apparently everything after the acr 4.3 are specific to your camera. They should name them after your camera just so you can be sure it's working correctly.

That remains to be seen. The colors using the ACR profiles were complete shit compared to NX and the Canon version.

I'm not sure i'm willing to say these things are perfect just yet.

    But fingers crossed!

You can save that as a preset and apply to pictures, not 100% sure if you can update the profile themselves.
