    I think I got lucky.
I've been wanting a new business name, other than my name "clint davis". I have a lot of friends and I want to have a collection of talent under one roof. Not a ground-breaking idea, but i'd rather have a broad company name to work under instead of just MY name. That way I can grow in the future.

SO, for the longest time I had www.studioeighty2.com ready to go...
but it didn't fully scratch my itch. (82 is my birth date, and i like how studio82 rolls off the tongue).

Then I started thinking of other words, and "collective" came to mind.
And by pure luck, www.collectiv3.com had gone unpaid and unparked, and I picked it up! The "3" can stand for 3 broad art mediums... I thought of "photo, video, design"

But my question to OT, is www.collectiv3.com a savvy/cool/respectable business name? I'm about to legitimately get a business license, so this name is pretty important :eek3:

I like "The Collective 3" with the tagline "photo, video, design"..

I have a few businesses registered. you do not have to use the name you are going to use. you can call it Clint Davis Ventures, LLC or something like that and just do a DBA (Do Business As) and use whatever name you want, even multiple names so take your time and don't rush on the name.

    i like studioeighty2 better, I don't really like collectiv3 - that just seems weird

to me, the first is much more professional

also, why not just name it Clint Davis Studios or something like that using your name, it's good self-promotion. plus when dealing with clients they will know that you are the owner and you will be sure to take good care of them.

here is my two cents as far as a business name and a URL..

Don't mix up numbers in number format and word format. When you are telling people your website, you don't want them typing www.texteight2.com when it should be www.text8two.com or vise versa. If they can't easily get there, you lost them. instead, do text82.com or texteightytwo.com.

Tell a story with the name and numbers...if you can easily give it out and give them insight as to what it means, it will stick in their heads longer. If it has no meaning, but just sounds cool, you may not be able to "sell" yourself as easily.

But I think anything that has to do with design, photography, studio, etc., will give people (and google searchers) a great idea of what they're going to see when they find you.

If Im to be honest, I think incorporating leet-speak into your business name is not a real positive business decision.

well crap... i'll have to think a little harder now.

I want to avoid using my name because i want it to literaly be a collective of talent on one website, basically i'd be an agent. I've learned I can only do so much work by myself!!!

You should totally start up an apprentice show, but have the guys take over one of your magazines instead of a giant restaurant :big grin:
