Ok, I'm building a comp for a friend. We put the hardware together yesterday and are starting on the software today. I installed win2k, it booted, looked for the mouse and keyboard, etc, then restarted. All fine so far. When you boot back up, it wants you to do the network settings.
The options are "assume this user is always logged in" or require a username and PW". When you hit the NEXT button on this screen, it bluescreens. Every time.
I tried going back, reformatting and reinstalling windows, but it still does it in the exact same place.

    Hardware, if it matters.

    WD sata harddrive.
All the components are new, and I'm using win2k.

    Any ideas? [IMG]

How about posting exactly what the blue screen says?

You can usually google the error or look it up on the Microsoft knowledge base.

This is usually due to some piece of hardware not playing well with the hardware detection in the setup. Unfortunately for you, XP is a lot more robust in handling this than 2000 was. Do what cmsurfer said and write down the info from the BSOD and try searching http://search.support.microsoft.com and google.
