got the new parts, everything setup properly, no overclocks and just xp loaded with motherboard driver updates etc. at this point the wifi was installed in the pci slot 1, and recognized. tried to install the drivers and the system hung.

so I move the card from slot 1 to slot 2, and the pc hangs on boot, wont get past xp loading screen. remove the card (working yesterday) and replace with a known working card, still hangs in either pci slot.

is it possible theres some conflict that I'm not seeing or does this sound rma worthy?

install the drivers first before you plug in the card

tried that and it still hangs. boots in safe mode and device manager recognizes the card and states the driver is signed :dunno:

Double check that it is an up-to-date driver for the your exact model and for the proper operating system

go to device manager > view > resources by type > Interrupt Request (IRQ)
which one has the same IRQ with the wireless card?

I checked the IRQ, even though I thought they were auto assigned/shared/pci bus whatever the fuck. No conflicts, I even changed it manually to an unused IRQ and still no go. Driver is good, worked on the same XP install disc half a dozen times already.

So... after two known good cards and good driver failed- I tried a SBLive card and it booted fine. WTF mb/pci card conflict?

Are those cards D-Link G500 series by chance?
These have issues on certain Gigabyte and Asus motherboards.

Checkout the support forums of your mobo and see if anyone is experiencing the same problems as yours.

Gigabyte G31 and an AT&T 6550G, these cards even worked in ubuntu without a problem.

And I was going to head out and buy a DLink to match my router. I'll check the gigabyte forums for help.
