Ok I wasnt sure if copesdist was gonna come through on this one or not, but they damn well did. If you remember from another thread, I returned a side rail and scope to copes dist due to to much movement. They have had these beryl rails on back order for a long time. When I called to get my money back, the guy there said they were about to get a shipment in on friday. I told him to just send me one of those, half expecting them to fuck it up. Well today this came in. It is insanely sturdy. All you have to do is pop the rear leaf sight out and unscrew the trunion to install it. If you look around places like ar15 or any other sites, you will see that these things are in HIGH demand, and nobody is really selling them right now. I highly suggest if you want one you call copes dist as soon as possible and order one. Dont go by the website saying they are on back order, as they never update it.

It may look like its off center, but that is actually the wood buttstock that is off centered. It actually has grooves that always go into the metal trunion the exact same way each time. Very fucking sturdy

is it more common to put a reddot on a rifle that will be used at 100 yards, or to put a 2-4x scope on one?

I feel like if it were to be sighted in perfectly, I could still get good groupings at 100yrds with just red dot

$70 isn't bad at all for that. After I finish my Tantal I'll probably pick one up. I have a hard time buying anything beside ammo right now though :hs:

Looks good. I have one of those dust cover mounts. Not stable at all.

I've heard a few good things about those siderail mounts that you returned, and nothing good about the duscover mounts. While that rail is sharp-looking. I'm not sure I went to drop that kind of coin just for an AK mount.

This isnt a dustcover mount. This is a beryl rail. HUGE difference. The two mount points on this are the hooks of the rear leaf sight, and a huge fucking screw and groove at the trunion of the stock. You CANT move this thing unless you use a hammer. The siderail I returned was a piece of shit. I could wiggle it around easily because it was so high up, and it slid back and forth on the rail mount constantly. I will never use another rail besides this one again. :wavey:

I've got one of the beryl rails too, not done much with it yet, want to try to find a decent hand guard rail that'll line up with it and maybe throw my ARM's BUIS on it. It seems pretty solid but for just an optic I wouldn't bother I'd stick with the side mounts, cheaper.

How do you feel about my ongoing struggle to decide between a 4x scope or just a reddot? Im sure you have shot many rifles at 100 yards. Is a red dot enough to give me solid groupings, assuming im using a table and some bags?

I've got a few different optic setups I can use on my AK's, Kobra, tacpoint, pso, psop's, Kobra sees the most use. Kobra @ 100yds with silhouette target can land most shots fairly center mass even shooting fairly rapidly. Usually when I first get to the range I'll do the first session with one of the scopes 4x+ mag can usually keep the groups pretty tight for a bit then start getting flyers when the barrel gets hot, thats when I swap over to the kobra.

    In short get both. :bigthumb:

It's important to note that those shitty G&P Aimpoints are like, a 5 or 6 MOA dot, and that's not counting any blooming.

Do yourself a favor and put a real 2 MOA Aimpoint CompM/CompML3 on that fancy rail you got there.

You get what you pay for. You bought a nice solid decent quality rail, put something decent quality on it.
