Today, Sept 10th, ATI launched its new line of 5xxxx GPUs, so says every major website ive found. But I dont see any reviews or benches, anywhere.

Whats the deal? Now I hear they wont be available to buy until the 22nd? WTF, how is today the "launch day" if they arent even out to be purchased?

Launch for reviewers. Expect consumers to get it a month later

Then where are the reviews? As far as I can tell, the only people to get to see it were those at quakecon.

I'm sure it takes more than 1 day to do a proper review. I'm not sure if there's an NDA on it though

No way it launched today. If the NDA's dropped today, you'd see 20 sites that have a review released.

so far ive found one site with a terrible, teriible review. Just basically says

    "Crysis 1900x1200 4AA+16AF DX10 Very High -58701gb"

    Min- 30fps
    Avg- 43
    Max- 54

And thats the whole of the benchmark.

Pretty sure the cards are released to the public the same day Windows 7 (and DX11) is released.

I thought 7 was going to be in October? Most sites are saying sept 23rd for purchase of the GPU now.

I guess my meaning of "launch date" and ATIs meaning arent the same.

    That's weird. What's the use of having a DX11-ready card without DX11?

Well, its the next standard, so every card will have it eventually. Makes no difference if you use it or not.

    Plus braggin' rights.

Nvidia's G80 DX10 cards were out like 3-4 months before Vista.

Like I said there is no way today was release day, or even the end of the NDA. Damn near of ATI's launch dates are a hard launch.

More and more im seeing that the Sept 10th date was probably for the eyefinity thing they have going on. Thats really cool and is a huge showcase of power in regards to the cards, but I just cant seem to get excited about it. I just wanted to see some hardware.

That's it, I am going to build a new computer by the end of this coming winter. Too many things are going to all come out at once: Windows 7, DirectX 11, new hardware, probably some new games I'd like...

But then again, I also want to buy a new car. And I need to sell my investment property. (yes, I know it was a dumb idea, but it seemed smart in late 2007.)

eyefinity demo was running an effective resolution of something insane like 7k x 4k off of ONE 5870, running far cry at "very playable frame-rates" and WoW at 80fps.

    Jesus.

EDIT - Quote from Anandtech: "Driving all of this is AMD's next-generation GPU, which will be announced later this month. I didn't leave out any letters, there's a single GPU driving all of these panels. The actual resolution being rendered at is 7680 x 3200; WoW got over 80 fps with the details maxed"
