If you tell your chain of command that you plan on not re-enlisting is it possible to still get orders to "cool" places? I've heard that it sometimes happens because they think if you get a cool next assignment you'd want to re-enlist (even if you currently don't have the retainability). Then again it is here-say, and I'm hoping someone here has gone through it first hand.

I know it has been used before as a way to entice people to re-enlist.

ive also seen alot of people get nothing after saying that alot...could go either way guess it all depends on what everyone thinks of you, as advice to anyone (and i tell me new guys) never let anyone know what your plans are unless you are going to say im not sure yet or yes im going to

I know a guy that was put on flying status so he would re enlist. Unfortunately this decision was made after he blew off WAPS testing.
