Came across a great deal on a NIB ACOG TA31F on calguns that I could not pass up. Can't wait to shoot it later next week.

Calguns has one of the best if not the best marketplaces on the web. I have seen more great deals on firearms and accessories there than just about anywhere.

There are also a lot of really nice people there. Some jackoffs, like everywhere, but a lot of good people too.

I hear that Yar guy on calguns is a real dick, but he usually has screaming deals on stuff that he's won at matches.

On another note, have you looked thru or shot or played with any Meopta Kdots?

I was really planning on buying one of them but then this deal came along and I figured if I was not happy it would be no big deal to sell it and certainly break even and try the Kdot.

Yeah I've look through many a meopta, even shoot one on a buddies rifle when mine went down. It's OK... I prefer the accupoint for what I do.

You can look them all up on the Trijicon site.

The TA31F is a 4x magnification, has both tritium and fiber optic illumination. It has a red chevron and the BDC.

It ended up being $825 delivered.

I think I will be happier with 4x instead of 3x. I know the relief is greater on the 33 but again, I think the 4x will make me happier. The Bindon concept works pretty well for me so I am not really worried about it. I will not know for sure until later this week when I get to go run a few hundred rounds thru the gun.

the only reason i ask is because the TA33 is 7 ounces  it also utilizes the BAC

I had really planned on getting a Meopta Kdot but then this came by and I figured why not. At that price I can try it for a while and if I don't like it sell it and get whatever else I want. The 4x was what I was after plus you have almost twice the field of view with the 31. Weight is not really an issue and I don't plan to do much else to this gun. I had really thought I wanted a quad rail but think that the gun might be just about done now. Hard to say until I get some range time with it like it is now.

Oh, I do need a nice sling though.

Can you see the front sight when looking through an Acog? A TA33/TA31 specifically.

I doubt it. I've looked through Hoss's TA33-8, which is a 3x, and it's only possible to see the faintest ghostly blur of the FSB if you REALLY concentrate on it.

I bet with 4x, it'd be even harder to find. If not practically impossible. But either way, you have to be looking for the FSB to even see any sign of it in the first place.
