Your BIOS may only support 32GB drives. How old is it?

XP only allows you to format 32 GB in FAT32 format. Reformat in NTFS.

Best bet is your motherboard. Old boards usually only allow upto around 30gb. You might be able to find a bios update for your board which enables large hdd support.

Get a PCI IDE controller. It will have its own BIOS that will recognize the whole drive.
