COMIC never read a comic book/graphic novel prior to reading "Watchmen"

    and now "Watchmen" is definitely on my top 5 favorite books list.

    It was the first one I'd read also.

    I love the swashbuckling pirate comics. Best part imo :bowdown:

    I would recommend The Other Side, or the first installment of Army @ Love.

    Unfortunately "Watchmen" sets the bar for quality in graphic novels (at least for the superhero genre). But here's a list of award winning ones, any of which would probably be recommended by us:

    An obvious suggestion would be "Batman: The Dark Knight Returns." It even came out the same year as "Watchmen" and is also a big favorite for Batman fans.

    Watchmen is incredible. I would reccomend Maus (both volumes). Its extremely powerful (ww2 through the eyes of a Jew in the concentration camps personified as a mouse, with the Nazis being, of course, cats) and it further solidifies the stance of comics and graphic novels as art and literature, as opposed to entertainment (just like Watchmen).
