If you don't trust your equipment, you shouldn't be hunting. Fortunately, the Bushnell family of riflescopes is extremely trustworthy, with some of the most innovative, dependable, and accurate optics you can carry into the field. This particular scope--the Elite 3200 5-15x40 short-action riflescope--boasts multi-coated optics designed to promote generous light transmission and crisp image quality. The scope's primary protection is Bushnell's exclusive Rainguard lens coating, which reduces large drops of water to near-microscopic specks, thereby dramatically increasing light transmission and resulting in a remarkably clear image in wet weather. The scope is also remarkably durable, with a rugged, one-piece aluminum tube. And like the 4200, the Elite 3200 is recoil tested with 1,000 rounds of a .375 H&H magnum. Offering everything the avid hunter requires, the Elite 3200 riflescope is backed by a no-questions-asked one-year replacement warranty (U.S. only). General Features
    • Rainguard lens coating
    • 1-piece hammer-forged tube
    • Multi-coated optics
    • Magnum recoil-proof construction

5-15x is quite a lot for a hunting rifle. A 3-9x is probably more practical.

Will MOSTLY be a target rifle, but I do plan on taking some deer with it.

I used Burris Signature dovetails front and back. It has been rock solid and the the poly inserts are a awesome for coarse adjustment without need to burn up a bunch of your scopes internal windage/elev adjustment range.
