I'm trying to network my desktop with my laptop, mostly so I can transfer media files back and forth, and to have internet on both. I tried using Windows' network setup stuff, but couldn't get it working. My desktop is hooked up to my dorm room's ethernet jack, and my laptop is hooked up to my desktop via firewire. Is it plausible for this to work? I want:
-laptop to be able to access internet
-laptop to be able to access folders from desktop

any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

Why is your laptop hooked up to your PC via firewire in the first place? I did not knwo you can network over firewire, but I'm sure anything is possible. I know you can network over USB, but you need a special crossover-type cable, and standard cable will not work. So you may want to look into if you need a special fireiwre cable.

EDIT - I found a link that may help
