Well I've tried just about everything I can.

    Set up

    Windows 2003 Server
    [email protected] 500w firewall/router
    ..network

Enabled Remote desktop on the windows 2003 server
Made sure Remote Desktop is in the exceptions list in the firewall

Added a rule to allow/forward TCP port 3389 on our firewall

Tried to connect using osx, xp, windows 7.

None of them can connect. It just says "can't connect"

Any suggestions on getting this little issue worked out? I'm out of ideas

Connect locally, that will tell you whether it's W2K3, or the router

Did you allow the right packets on that port?? I know on our Cisco PIX you have to set UDP and IP separately ... every now and then I'll allow IP when I should allow UDP.

If you run netstat -an does it show 3389 listening locally?

If yes then try and hit it via RDP from the same LAN

Thanks all. I got it working by selecting the NIC card (the server has two - one using iSCSI drives) manually using the terminal services manager. After a reboot I was able to get it working.
