I am currently on a home network, and a lot of things get shared between computers. When I was on XP, it was as simple as sharing the folder and anyone with my IP address could access it. But with Vista there are loads more options, and I can't figure out how to do it. I messed about with it for a bit, and my sister could finally access my computer, but a few days later it stopped working again, probably because our IP addresses change.

So, my question is - Is it possible to turn off any security features that will make file sharing as easy as it was with XP?

I only played with it a little bit and when I was able to share I walked away from it but an explicit Network Map worked for me:

Under Windows Explorer: Tools -> Map Network Drive
    Folder: \\computer-name\share-name
    (Example: \\Desktop1\Shared)

Compared to XP it IS a pain.
