so I have my new box up on the network now (I am posting this from it) but I can't get access to any of my other computer's shares, nor can they get to the shares on this box.

they are all in the same workgroup, they all have file and printer sharing turned on, and both of my old boxes can see the new box in the "view workgroup computers" area.

whenever I try to view workgroup computers from the new box, I get a "network path not found" error. If i do an ipconfig /release and ipconfig /renew, I can get into the "view workgroup computers" thing, but still can't access anything and I get the path not found error again.

I tried connecting directly to the other boxes from my new box using the IP address and I can see all of the shares and access what I need :ugh:

so what the fuck? any ideas?

There's no need to turn it off. It works perfectly fine on my network and the others I have setup.

Do you have NETBIOS over TCP/IP enabled in your TCP/IP properties?

If they can see each other it was probably just the guest accounts turned off.

File and Printer Sharing doesn't use the Guest account.
