    1. Open NEF using camera raw plugin in Photoshop CS2
    2. Make sure export bit value is 16 bits
    3. Make WB, straightening, crop changes then click on "open"
    4. Use various adjustment layers to my liking
    5. Save as PSD 16bit (in case I want to revisit the image)
    6. USM
    7. Save as JPEG

Now if I revisit my PSD 16bit I saved in #5 and worked on that thing over and over again, would there be any loss in data (assume that I'll be using adjustment layers)?

no loss in PSD, unless you want to make real raw corrections at the NEF level -- then use the NEF
