need to step my running up a bit

    what is the best way to knock time off my mile and a half? i'm at 11:43 and need to get to 10:00 in 5 weeks...i've been running 3 miles every other day at a pace of 9min/mile on off running days, we do p90x core stuff usually

    huh? I am a police officer ... its only a 16:00 minute mile and a half for that

    Start with a low distance and run it all out. Wait until you see your times improving.

    Gradually increase that disance by .25 mile everytime you feel like you are running it as fast as possible.

    By the time your running your target distance you should be conditioned.

    So if you need to run 10:00 min 1.5 mile. Start with .5 mile and train till you can run it in 3:20 or so and keep adding the distance as you hit your pace goals.

    This is how I train and I ran my last 3 mile PFT in 16:22.
