Client needs a site... it's nothing special. preferably multiple domains and databases.. but i think most hosts hover that, right?

    Was looking at:
    bluehost
    hostgator
    dreamhost

    open to suggestions!

They just put the price up from $100/month to $150 a month, so you have to wonder what's going on with that. What's to stop them putting the price up again?

As far as I'm aware, whilst it's a nice platform - it's not been without its problems and it still lacks basic functionality such as SSH access for importing large database dumps and the like.

Personally, I would stay away from the likes of Hostgator, Dreamhost etc if you have a business website - but if you have loads of hobby stuff you want to host or similar, then they do a fair job. if you're running a business, Medialayer have a very good reputation for high quality hosting, as do Cartika.

stay away from 1and1. I use them, and their uptime is fantastic, but that's about all they have...
