    Here's the site I've got..

    www.azreviews.net

    I was looking at http://codex.wordpress.org/Designing_Headers to find out about changing the header to include an image rather than a text layover but couldn't find anything..

    Code:
    <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd">
    <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml">
    <head profile="http://gmpg.org/xfn/11">

        <title><?php bloginfo('name'); ?><?php wp_title(); ?></title>

        <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="<?php bloginfo('html_type'); ?>; charset=<?php bloginfo('charset'); ?>" />
        <meta name="generator" content="WordPress <?php bloginfo('version'); ?>" /> <!-- leave this for stats please -->

        <link rel="stylesheet" href="<?php bloginfo('stylesheet_url'); ?>" type="text/css" media="screen" />
        <link rel="alternate" type="application/rss+xml" title="RSS 2.0" href="<?php bloginfo('rss2_url'); ?>" />
        <link rel="alternate" type="text/xml" title="RSS .92" href="<?php bloginfo('rss_url'); ?>" />
        <link rel="alternate" type="application/atom+xml" title="Atom 0.3" href="<?php bloginfo('atom_url'); ?>" />
        <link rel="pingback" href="<?php bloginfo('pingback_url'); ?>" />

        <?php wp_get_archives('type=monthly&format=link'); ?>
        <?php //comments_popup_script(); // off by default ?>
        <?php wp_head(); ?>
    </head>
    <body><div id="wrapper">

    <div id="header">

    <h1><a  id="header_name" href="<?php bloginfo('url'); ?>"><?php bloginfo('name'); ?></a></h1>
    <?php bloginfo('description'); ?>

    </div>

    That's the code for my header.php in the theme i'm using.

    I couldn't really find the stuff that I was supposed to change in order to make the header an image rather than text on a background. Right now my theme has a file called header_background.jpg which is the blue and black gradient. I'd like to figure out how to put an image on top of this background file so that it will appear properly on different resolutions.

    Anyone able to help?

    You see how your div "header" is there?

    You can edit the css to have the image you want and to be displayed how you want.

    Also, you can just replace
    Code:
    <?php bloginfo('name'); ?>
    with
    Code:
    <img src="/path/to/image.jpg" border="0"/>
    and I belee dat'll work, son.

    I did this in the css for one site...

    Code:
    #header{
      	height:164px;
      	margin: 0 auto;
    	width:700px;
    	background:#131313 url("./images/header.jpg") no-repeat;
    }
    That worked.

    If you need to reference a link or whatever, then just do it in your header.php or index.php

    lol

    You either specify it in background: or if you use background-image: specify it under background-repeat:

    Tried both suggestions lolzilla posted and neither seemed to work.. Any other suggestions? It seems like the header.php won't even recognize my tags for <img src"...">

    it wont "recognize" the tags for an img? is it giving you an error? make sure you deleted the entire line to be replaced that lolzilla said , including the <?php and ?> at the end.
