I'm not looking to lose weight because I don't think I really need to, but I am looking to sculpt, define and keep myself in shape without adding too much bulk.

Thought about visiting a personal trainer, but someone suggested I check with you guys first, so let's hear your suggestions.

You won't add lean mass by accident so don't even worry about that.

If you're looking to "sculpt" what you're really looking to do is decrease your body fat. You can decrease your body fat by carefully dieting, which will result in your losing weight.

If you're just beginning you can just workout and make some nice gains for awhile though.

Lift weights, do cardio, eat a high-protein balanced diet. Do that every dayfor a couple of years and you'll see results.

So do you have specific regimens for workouts that you can suggest for both upper and lower work?

Edit: I wasn't planning to do JUST cardio. That not only gets boring for me, but I've heard that some strength and flexibility training is good to add in for a well-rounded work out regimen.

I am not going to keep having this arguement, but if you do the research and meet the trainer before you buy anything, you can find a trainer who knows what they are doing. Don't buy based on sales tactics, watch them with their clients if possible and speak to their clients, ask if they are reaching their goals in a good time frame.

oh and IB Nudes comes in here to troll this post

That's good advice. I won't say it's impossible to find a good one: the strongman competitor at my old Gold's was fucking awesome. But it takes work and time.

Almost got sucked into getting a trainer this last week... I got scheduled into doing a fitness assesment and the guy who was supposed to be my trainer is about 6'3 230lbs sub-10% and entering a natty bodybuilding competition. I could've gone for that if I had the money.

I'm thinking that I might still do this, too. It can't hurt to consult with a trainer and work out a couple of times with someone just to get some basic foundational knowledge before I branch out on my own. It's overwhelming though. there are so many out there.

bosu ball is a hemisphere with a hard surface on the other side. "Both Sides Utilized" is what it stands for iirc. You're thinking of stability ball dodgeball.
