I bought this weight bench a while ago and just got around to using it, this is when I realized I have no clue what I'm doing. It was a barbell, 2 dumbells, and a curling and leg attachment. I've never really lifted weights before and I know very few exercises besides how to bench and curl. Any links to websites with instructions and pictures would be excellent, or could you please try to explain some to me?

Ok, so I think I got something going here. I went to exrx.com and found instructions and animated gifs for all of these so I think I know what to do. How does this look?

    Tuesday:

    Dumbbell bench press 3x12
    Scull crushers 3x12
    Lateral raises 3x12
    Crunches 4x20

    Friday:

    Shoulder shrugs 3x12
    Barbell curl 3x12
    One arm rows 3x12
    Crunches 4x20

id personally use the stickied routine by noquarter/pur, just alter it so it fits with the equipment you have. condense it if you dont have that much time.

Realistically, I don't think I could do that for the 5 days or however long it entails. I would give up pretty soon, so I'm just going to start slow and maybe in the future work up to that.

honestly, doing your routine won't give you any results at all and you'll give up faster than shit hits the water. jump into that shit hard as fuck and eat like a mug and youll start to love this shit and wont be able to stop. like a fucking machine. start low and add weight every week..

Honestly, going from a very sedentary lifestyle (browsing OT and watching tv all day) to my plan won't do anything? Shouldn't any real attempt at exercising benefit someone like me?

Just got back from running 2 miles at the high school, damn I haven't run like that since I was a freshman like 6 years ago.

Baby steps didn't do jack shit for me...I'd work out for a few weeks, then stop for a few months. Once I dove in head first (full 5 day routine) I never had that problem.

Another one of my concerns is I have on way to do leg exercises. The weights I have right now only go up to like 180 so I can't do squats, and I has no money for more..

With dumbbells you can still do squats, stiff-leg deadlifts, different lunge variations, and things like that.

hit the ground running and don't look back. I agree that you want to start off with at least 3 days a week of heavy lifting.

also, if you're a beginner then 180lbs will be more than enough weight for squats, as long as you're full squatting like you should be.
