I'm getting a new car on Thursday, and the deck that's in there is ~4 years old. I've been looking around for a new deck, with the main things I'm looking for being the ability to get a direct iPod connection to it, and be XM compatitible with the ability to change stations and whatnot through the actual deck.

As far as the display goes with the iPod and XM, I'm not sure what's available in this area. I would like to be able to see what's playing (iPod songs, XM station and song/artist name). I'm not sure if those are really standard or not.

I have been kind of looking at two different decks mainly.

Alpine CDA-9883: I had an older Alpine deck in my old truck and liked it. Very simple to use and everything. I had someone tell me he had heard the iPod functionality wasn't great on these, but I've heard a lot of people say it's very good. XM, I haven't heard much of anything.

Pioneer DEH-5901iBI was playing around with this at work today, but I couldn't really do much since it's just a display not hooked up to anything. Looks like it's not at intuitive from the outset, but the menus are probably a bit more hidden I'm guessing? The only positive I see to this one over the Alpine is the remote, but that's something that could be easily lost too.

Eventually I'm going to get an upgrade in speakers probably, and maybe down the road, the addition of a sub, but I have no clue right now, it all depends on money in the future.

I'm open to more suggestions. Again, these are the main two I had been looking at. I'd like to keep my budget on the deck to be around $200 on eBay, if that's any help. I could go a little bit more than that.

What would be the advantages in stepping up to the 9885?

Overall quality...alpine gets my vote, but Pioneer has some sweet looking color display decks. Pioneer isn't terribly bad or anything, but I went with Pioneer for the diff. look.
