I listen to a lot of metal, from death to progressive. Currently, I'm looking to Up my music collection with some new songs. I have no idea what to get so I need some lists of songs or new bands I can get.

I will list just a few bands and their songs that are my favorites, so you will get an idea on my taste of music - and then can give me advice accordingly:

Opeth: Blackwater Park; Moonlapse Vertigo; A Fair Judgement
Dark Tranquility: Auctioned; FreeCard; On Your Time
Children of Bodom: Everytime I Die; Hatecrew Deathroll
In Flames: Moonshield; Jotun; Cloud Connected; Swim; Wayfaerer; Only for the Weak; Bullet Ride
Kalmah: Bird of Ill Omen; Heroes to Us
Soilwork: Figure Number Five; The Bringer
    Zyklon: Hammer Revelation; Psyklon Aeon
    Strapping Young Lad: AAA; Possessions

Those are just a handful of my favorites.
Anyways, you should get an idea of my taste in metal. Now, please, give me recommendations! I'm in desperate need of more metal! [IMG]

Ok here's a few albums that you should get along with:

Agalloch - Pale folklore, the mantle
    Cynic - Focus
    Martyr - Warp zone
Arsis - A celebration of guilt
    Ensiferum - Self title, Iron
    Wintersun - Self titled
    Dissection - The somberlain
Intestine baalism - Banquet in the darkness

All the other good ones were taken already :dunno:

  5. I was about to recommend you a few good ones, but I realized fatlip took every single band I was going to recommend :bigthumb:

I really like Ensiferum and Wintersun. Also check out Norther, they're pretty good too. I'll put in another recommendation for Agollach's "Pale Folklore" .. that's a godly album. You might like Agent Steel too, although they arent really like any of the ones you listed.

Demigod - Slumber of sullen eyes should be listened to by andbody with even a passing interest in DM, it kicks ass.

If you want some really good industrial metal, go check out Hybreed by Red harvest and/or Streecleaner by Godflesh.

There are eleventy billion albums that could be mentioned in this thread, but I'll refrain unless anybody really wants some more.

without a shadow of a doubt, you need to hear Dimmu Borgir. their newer record was recorded with a 90 piece orchestra

Nobody needs to hear Dimmu Borgir's overblown and super cheesy take on BM, there almost as bad as Cradle of filth, but at least Dimmu managed to put out two decent albums (For all tid and Stormblast) before they went down the crap hole.

For BM, why not give some of these bands a listen:

Darkthrone, Emperor, Immortal, Burzum, Mayhem, Enslaved
