I just rented one for a week and would like some tips for lens settings, since this thing didn't come with a manual. Call me a retard or whatever, I don't care......I openly admit this is the first "real" lens I have used. There are 3-4 different settings by slide switches, and some sort of focus ring midway that says "firmer-------softer" with directional arrows.

I threw it on my 30D and managed to take a couple test shots that turned out great, but just wanted to get a run down of the settings. FWIW, I am going to be using this lens primarily for drag racing this weekend.

    TIA :x:

    IS on/off
    AF on/off

probably a focus limiter, if you aren't taking any pictures at close range at all, move it to teh 2nd spot so it doesn't hunt at close range, it'll speed up AF

if you twist it one direction it will tighten, other way loosens it. Push/pull the zoom a few times to see where you want it
