So my boss tells me his boss wants his pst file from outlook 2000 to work with his outlook 2003. Only problem is that they're not compatible with one another (thanks microsoft!). Anybody know how to get the 2000 pst file to work with the 2003? I've already tried doing the simple things like just importing it and removing my own pst file and then pointing to my boss' boss'.

Only thing i can really think of is just uninstalling my outlook, installing 2000, importing my boss' shit and then upgrading to 2003 then exporting a new pst... anybody got anything else?

The two are compatible. I have done this many times with each time being successful. Create a new personal folder in Outlook 2003 which in turn will create a new 2003 .pst file. Import the Outlook 2000 .pst file into the new 2003 .pst file. The only reason that this would not work is if the 2000 .pst file is well over its 2GB file size limit and is corrupted.

I tried to make a new folder within my "personal" folder and no new pst was created on my hard drive.

It did not create a new .pst file on your hard drive because when you created that new folder you actually put it in your cureent .pst file. You have to create a new "personal" folder to make a new .pst file. I would list out the steps but I am not currently at a computer that has Outlook installed, but I will be tonight.

Not every company can afford to have an Exchange server.
