I have been looking at this pic for the last 10 min in Lightroom not knowning what I should do to it.

already played around with contrast, sharpening, exposure, etc.. and I know there is something I can do to make it stand out a little more. Any tips for me?

I really should get a book on this stuff... complete amature on this

    burn the background down some

the bright white objects in the background compete with the subject of focus for your composition.

    Here's a quick, rough edit...

Upped brightness to get the whites to pop out a bit more, sharpened the image, then burned the background (messed up on that part and got too lazy to fix it ).

    nice job :mamoru:

i generally don't agree with making photos in post / saving photos in post, but you may also want to mask the background and do a light gaussian blur. maybe 50% opacity

also, correct the blue color cast from your white balance by adding yellow in the color balance tool

The brightness needed to shift from the background to the foreground.

I like teh background in Jared's image, but no food no longer looks apetizing. you brought out too much detail in the fruit.

I like the foreground in Panic's image but the background looks too red and blueish.

put them thos two images together, and I am eating whereever that is
