So I have been going to the gym now for 5 weeks, 4 times a week and have gained weight. ug I understand that: Muscle Weight > Fat Weight, and that is where my weight gain has probably come from. I just need some quick tips also. My stats are:

    26 years old
    6 feet and 3 inches
    260 lbs

    My usual workout routine is:

    -Strech: 2 mins
-Eliptical Runner: 30 mins @ 65 or so RPM (*500 Cals* according to machine)
-Free Motion machines: 15-20 mins rotate arm and legs everyday
-Walk a few 1/16th mile laps inside the gym: 5 mins
-Sitdown Stationary bicycle: 15 mins + 2 min cool down (*100 Cals* according to machine)

When on the the cardio machines I try keeping my heart rate at 165-170 or so and around 120-140 on the machines. So all in all I am keeping my heart rate for about an hour or so.

However I just want to lose my belly and man boobs. I know by my stats I prolly look like an E-fatass but I play tons of sports (Soccer, softball, golf) and do all kinds of physical activities and just have this weight around my midsection.

Botom line: Whats the best way to lose this belly and man-boobs? Also what should I be eating?

I start the day with coffee, then have an Odwalla Super protein for lunch, then workout. Tuna and crackers when im done working out and then usually some shitty dinner.

Any help would be great! Thanks OT

You are eating improperly, and your plan is terrible, be directed to the stickies and the archioves for more information.

Machines are pieces of shit, stay away from them, cut out some of the cardio and lift weights.

I think the elliptical machine is over-estimating the # of calories you're burning.

I agree, but referenced with all the other sites and people I have asked that was a low number. Most sites and books I have looked at say around 575-600 cal for 30 mins at 260 lbs.

The stickies are there for a reason, so people don't have to keep giving the same advice over and over and over. Quit being lazy and read them or ask a worthwhile question. Jesus Christ these guys are getting me riled up today!!!:rl:

Yes, I read them. Thank you. I guess we should all just avoid asking questions and just have 2 sticky threads. Jesus this site is becomming more worthless by the fucking minute.

They're not being pricks to piss you off, they're showing you that all of the awesome info you need on setting up your own diet and fitness is in the stickies. Someone can write on a piece of paper of what you should be doing, but that won't help you in the long run. Regardless of each poster's specifics there are tons of threads like this every week - which is partly why it's frustrating. It's also frustrating because it makes the board feel like an insta-advice machine that keeps getting asked to spew out the same info over and over and over again. If the Gamer's Pulse forum got asked "how do I beat level 4 of Doom" 5 times a week - you can imagine they'd get tired of it too.

So check over the stickies and previous threads on the last page or two, get together what you can, and THEN ask questions on specifics - everyone's happy to chime in on those. No need to be butthurt off the bat.

    Make sense?

Werd, I read all the stickies and looked at a few of the exercise programs from the list and actually got some good ideas. I looked at all the info for hours before I even posted. Just thought this was a Fitness forum and maybe I could ask some specifics and get some answers which is why I post specifics and not just a: "Im fat and want to lose weight" thread with no other info. I'm a big boy and I'm not butthurt over this, since I expected half of what was posted anyway. So I'll just stop posting and find a bunch of generic programs that work for other people and chime in when I need info on protein shakes.

    well put Memor.

Basically, based on the information that you gave in your 1st post, your eating habits are standing in the way of your weight loss. 1st is not to skip breakfast, it realliy is an important meal. Second, since you are taking in almost nothing thuought the day, your body will basicall store away all of that "shitty" meal that you are eating for dinner.

Contrary to popular belief, you have to eat to lose weight. (doing it correctly anyway) You just have to eat the right stuff at the right times. That's where the stickies come into play.

It's good that you found some info in the stickies. But, in the defense of the other F&N'ers your first post read like a "I'm fat and want to lose weight" type of question. There are quite a few people here that will provide help, just give us a little more info to work with.
