Im looking to get a sub for my truck. I'm much more concered with it sounding crisp, clear, and tight than with volume. I'll be getting a single 10" or 12" woofer since I dont have much room. Any suggestions as to what to look at and what to avoid? Cost is not really going to be too much of an issue.

If cost is not an issue for for an Image Dynamic 12" sub. I suggest the Max 12 v.3 D4.
haha it's $445, and an amp to run it is around $800 :)

Yes, everyone who doesnt have much room looks right at the sub with an 8 1/4" mounting depth:ugh: . And wtf $800 to run it? There are quite a few nice amps that will do it justice for under $500.

If space is an issue I'd go for an Image Dynamics IDQ instead. One will get plenty loud for someone who just wants clean sound. Or take a look at the Adire Audio Koda.

How do you know he doesnt have much room?? Also for these subs to really shine you'll need a nice amp, sure a $500 or below amp will run these, but not to the full extent.
But yeah, i didn't notice the sub was an 8 1/4" mounting depth...

Because he said he didnt have much space. And I'd bet you I could get it to run just as well with a $500 amp as I could with an $800 amp.

Yea that is the sub he was talking about. I put an Image Dynamics IDQ 12 in my friends car and it gets plenty loud and sounds great.

per voice coil... haha it's got dual coils. So I believe it's 250W per one, I might be wrong though. They also peak at 500 Watts, so a nice 400W amp would make these pound so hard! :eek3:

the rms on an idMAX is 1000watts for a 12 and the rms for an idQ is around 400 or so.

Its 250W RMS per driver, not per coil. There is absolutely no reason to run a driver with more power than its rated for in daily use apps.
