Need some advice

    Alright here it is. I’m 20 years old 6’2 200lbs. I work for a software development company 9-5 M-F. I’m a firefighter/medic every third night for 12 hours and 24 hours if it falls on a Saturday or Sunday. I’m also earning my bachelors degree online which needs about 3-4 hours a day at least. I play hockey 2 times a week for 1 ½ hours plus martial arts 2 times a week for an hour. I’m not “out of shape” but I don’t have the look I want. I’m not going to lie, at this point in time I’m really just trying to look cut and in shape. I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions. How should I balance cardio with lifting with very limited time? Realistically I only have about 3-4 days a week at most that I can workout. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    realistically 3-4 days a week broken up works out just fine. join a gym. get on a routine (the much touted christophers/bill starr routine is pretty common and a solid beginner routine). learn to eat healthy and watch what you eat.

    holy fuck you sound busy as shit....


    so you want to gain some mass....either eat a lot more or cut down on the hockey/martial arts

    My diet isnt too bad. Cerial with skim milk in the morning. Bagel with lowfat cream cheese for lunch. chicken breast plain at night with a little bread. i have a mt dew every morning (bad i know). Other than that, snacking consists of nutragrain bars. thats pretty much my diet every day..

    wow, thats not a lot of food at all....eat more protien bro....seriously that looks like 1500 cals a day

    Yea its not alot.. so should i up the protien and leave the calories the same or up everything?

    Make sure you are slowly increasing your cals (500cal/day increase each week) and monitor your body comp change. Also, eat nutrient dense foods and plenty of vegetables with a proper balance of protien/carbs/fat.

    Dude, you have ~9.5 hours of free time a day, and that includes transportation time and sleep.

    Good luck fitting lifting in there.


    My suggestion - give something up. There's a billion and one things I'd love to do, but we all make sacrifices in life... usually for the better.
