    vizio 42" 1080p at costco for $949.

even if you're not a member, the annual fee is $50, so you're still under a grand.

Vizio = shit. The worst black levels by far for an lcd, and the colors are not accurate. Any particular reason you need an lcd? You can get many good plasmas that will destroy an lcd in PQ and color reproduction for the same price. Panasonic PX75u, PX80u to name a few.

mainly because it's going to be used in a room with huge amount of light, as well as right next to a window.

i actually already have a panny pz77u and do like it a lot.

alright, well if you must go LCD I'd go with Samsung. They aren't over hyped like Sony products, and perfom better imo, and the price points aren't expensive...so there is no point in saving $100 to go with some pos olevia or vizio. Sharp is overpriced most times, and is very purple. Go with samsung.

Most of them show a really purple color instead of black when showing shadows, or dark areas....most lcds are like this, but the sharp is pretty horrific looking, and the worst I've seen. I always see it when browsing tvs.

Yes, I do. I love it. Granted you will find better units for 3x the cost. But for the price it is spectacular. Not sure what that guy is talking about with black levels... In the menu there is a "black level extender" option and it is a very deep black. I am super-pleased with my purchase. I use it daily as a computer monitor, as well as for movies.

It's kinda like comparing a Cadillac CTS-V vs a Ferrari 430. Yea the Ferrari is better, but I'd still buy the caddy. Loads of fun, fast, great car... and a lot cheaper.

I am very happy with my purchase, and will certainly look at vizio's offerings for my next tv.

I had my eyes on the Sony Bravia LCD 40" but now that I saw the Samsung 40" online at Walmart for $100 less, I'm really interested in that one now.
