I just moved into a new townhouse with a few friends and are looking to go with wireless since our place is 3 stories, and the wiring is a bit messy. We need a good wireless router that can give great signals throughout the house. Looking to spend at most $150.

watch out for the Linksys WRT160N. due to the design, it regularly overheats. based on that, i'd think that the WRT610N would do the same since it has the same case.

I'm currently looking at the D-Link DIR 655 (Xtreme N Wireless-N Gigabit). Anybody use this?

i don't know how EXTREMA or how many computers you will be using but i suggest going for a

    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16833127243

beacase it has 300mbps and (2.4GHZs or 5GHZs)

i love newegg usually best price but if you shop around maybe you can fined better i would suggest netgear but they like to build internal antennas so not the best choice for 3 storys of a building

There will be about 6 computers total. I was looking at this one as well at Best Buy, but I'm wondering what's the biggest advantage this one has over the DIR-655, since they seem identical.

I have the 655 but I wish I had that one because it uses the 5ghz for wireless n for speeds upto 300mb/s with the 655 you have to pick 2.4 or 5 but g does not work if you put it to 5 so everything has to be n, but with that one it can brodcast both so you get 300 for n and 54 for g like you are supposed to.

I have had a good experience with my ZyXEL X-550 so far (9 months old or so). Never had any dropped connections or other issues; easy to setup; haven't had to power cycle it for any reason yet.

Only downside is the power brick is supposed to die around a year but they replace it for free if that happens to you. I image its been fixed and I'm not sure if mine is a fixed one or not. Its also not draft N so not sure if it'll give you the range you need.

with 6 computers i would go with something better then a DIR-655

but it's all your choice and i know the other one is a bit more but i think it would be worth it in the end and if you don't like you can always return it in 30 days ;)
