    the machine only goes to 405... and i can do this 30x, 25x, 25x, 20x, 20x

this is kind of absurd.. i wish they made machines that do higher weights... is it hurting my possible gains that i have to do so many reps?

You know, you can just put a barbell on your back and do standing raises

If you really could do 30x 405 proper calf raises you would have been on here complaining long ago about the inadequacy of your gyms other weight machines.
Unless you're known as "Calfy McGee".
"oh him? that's Calfy McGee. Yeah, his calfs are larger than my torso."

Stack some 45s on the floor in the squat rack and rise on that, GTFO of the rack if someone wants to squat.

    or

Use the leg press, just don't let it slip off your toes, or you'll eat the sled. That would be awesome...

:werd: can't really see your calves too well from that angle and it offers little to no perspective. actually they dont look too impressive from that pic alone, no offense

sorry about the shitty picture, i was just chillin in the gym and some kid told me my calves looked godly.. they measured at 18 inches a few seconds ago

what is the prefferred picturing for calves?? im not really a big weight lifter.. ive honestly never done anything except play bball and jump rope, i just know that when i went to work out my calves, i always just put the machine on the heaviest and it still felt really... really... easy

because my vertical jump depends on my calves... and basketball is my #1 focus, therefore, vertical is my life

try this, point your left foot at 1 o'clock and right foot at 11. switch it up so your toes point outward as well. try supersetting from inward - narrow - outward and maybe free weight raises to burn them more.

if that doesnt destroy your calves, then your ROM sucks or just arent doing them properly.

i will try this, but it sounds like it would put alot of stress on my knees... i have a bad left knee (mcl) would this affect it much?

just stop being short and that won't be an issue.

calves actually contribute very little to your vertical jump
