from my experience macs are crap they're built with low quality stuff very simple design my buddy had one accuracy was crap every 10 rd or so it has ftf problems and the reciever is made from sheet metal or watever cuz his shit is rusting already you can get them in shotgun news for around $200+ffl fees.that being said tech 9 or ap 9 is worse i purchase one $130 at a show for shit and giggles and i sware to god i couldnt even get it to fire 1 rd after that i notice they're cracks in the reciever near the mag catch i was going to sell it for cheap but i didnt want anyone get hurt from it.got fed up and basically threw that thing in the garbage can.you see them in movies where gansters spray the neighborhood with them and shit or shoot it sideways but in real life they'll be lucky to get 3-4 rds without it being jam.

its a closed bolt :( but i got it for fun, i don't care about accuracy for this one. (its a semi auto) its just gonna be a "OH SHIT" gangster wannabe gun for shits and giggles.

i've heard b/c of thier simple design they can be reliable as hell (which i hope mine is).

i've seen some fixed up ones that look very dope.

i broke it down it it looks pretty damn clean, a little surface rust that can/will be removed.

open bolt is when the bolt remains in the rearward position after each shot mostly common with automatics.after they introduce those guns, badguys were figuring ways to make it fully auto.the batf didnt like it very much at all so after the ban those companys wasnt allow to sell them anymore.i doubt yours is open bolt but you can still buy them for outrageous prices like up between 800-1300.

the closed bolt versions of both Macs and Tecs have crappy reliability because they were designed as open bolt and they had to hastily change it when BATF told them to.

Converting a gun to full auto doesnt necessarily make you a "bad guy". Its the laws that are fucked up.

when the gun is cocked, is the bolt closed or open?

if the bolt is open when its cocked and pullung teh trigger releases the bolt, its an open bolt.

Aren't most open bolt systems recoil operated as well? I know the MACs, Stens, M3A1s, etc. were all recoil operated and open bolt.

Because criminals obey laws. I keep forgetting that.

    Also, what's a "form 3 tax stamp"?

Except for a few that are grandfathered they all have to fire from a closed bolt now. Say you build yourself a new semi sten you have to modify it to fire from a closed bolt. And yes, most open bolt systems are recoil operated.

if i cock the gun, the bolt (the thing you pull back on to cock it) goes back forward. so its closed bolt

am i correct to say that on a open bolt gun, the pulling of the trigger loads a round into the chamber and the firing pin strikes the bullet

and on a closed bolt gun, the pulling of the trigger just makes the pin strike the bullet, and the chambering of the round is a totally different mechanism?(either manually or from the blowback/recoil)

    right?

on a closed bolt gun, pulling the trigger makes the firing pin strike the primer of the bullet, and then the blowback/recoil makes the bolt go back, and then the spring makes it go back foward, chambering a round.

on an open bolt, the bolt is locked back, and pulling the trigger releases the bolt, which then chambers a round and fires it immediately, since it has a fixed firing pin.

open bolt is very easy to make fire full auto... I have heard it can be done without any internal modification, simply by putting an obstruction like a magnet between the trigger and the grip, so it can be pulled, but not all the way back.

and since when do criminals care if it's legal or not? It's easy enough to convert weapons to full auto. You can turn some weapons full auto with the use of a string...
