An old college professor of mine asked me to come in to his newspaper design classes next week to talk about something, ANYTHING. I was thinking of doing a presentation on how newspaper design relates to Web design, so the students see that the skills they're learning can be transferred to other mediums. I would talk about typography, layout, Gestalt principles.

    What else?
    Any ideas?
Can you recommend some examples to use?
    Maybe newspaper Web sites?
Any other great sites that use grid and/or column layouts?

    THANKS

maybe :dunno:. It's just 1 class of the communications major. It's more about typography, layout, using InDesign, basic design principles, color, etc. I used 99% of what I learned in a much wider capacity. Advertising, marketing, Web design, poster designs, etc.

The disappointed students are the journalism majors taking the course :hs:

Part of the reason why the class is still around is just because the professor teaching it has been there forever and he's a GREAT professor. But, as an editor or reporter, it's very good to know layout and design principles.
