Hey guys, I got an issue with a particular USB device and windows 2K pro.

When I install the software for the device and plug it in, win2k gives an error stating that the device cannot be installed, another service by the same name is already installed.

So then i unplug the device and uninstall the software, then reboot and reinstall the software and plug in the device, the USB device shows up in device manager as USB device #2......

Each time i repeat the above process the USB device lists in device manager as USB #3....#4 etc.

The hardware is a wireless USB adapter.

What process do I need to remove or what steps should i take in order to remove the prior USB device installations so that everything is totally uninstalled?

    Thanks for any help.

Try going into the device properties and updating the driver with your CD

:werd: screw the program install, just update the drivers using device manager and you should be good to go - I've had similar problems with certain USB thingies
