yesterday i was using my G4 powerbook and then closed the screen to goto class. when i opened it later that day the screen was fozen and nothing was responding at all. I forced shutdown by holding the power button and when i restarted, i got a flashing folder with a question mark in the middle of the screen. i put in the system disk to see if i could reload OSX but it won't even recognize that there is HD.
does anyone know what is going on or what i should do. i'ld rather not take it to the local apple dealer and get reamed by service charges, but if thats what it takes...

    thanks

Perhaps go out and get TechTool Pro. You can boot off the CD and do data recovery. :dunno:

If that doesn't work, I'd take it to an Apple store.
