I have a Thinkpad just setting around collecting dust. I bought is a while back from this guy. I had it for around 2 weeks before it went out. I'm wanting to get it back up and working just for the hell of it. It may come to a bit of use later on. When I started it up it shows the IBM logo and appears to be starting up. All of a sudden you hear about 2 or 3 beeps. After that it goes to a screen that says:

Error 0188 - Invalid RFID serialization information area or bad CRC2.

Has anyone else had this problem? What did you have to do to get it solved? Any help would be great.

I googled it and got this website.
With a little more googling, you'll probably find out how to fix it.

you could TRY a reflash. However, a bad flash often "bricks" the device which usually requires the manufacturer to fix.

I'm willing to try it. Doesn't matter, its fucked up already. Any help on flashing it? I can't get into Bios or startup from any source.

if you don't know how to flash a bios, you shouldn't try it.

It's apparently already bricked, so there's no further damage to be done.

To the OP...go to the Lenovo website and look up your machine type. Download the latest version of the BIOS offered for your Thinkpad. Follow the instructions seen there.

It won't let me get into the bios, nor will it boot from a floppy drive. It won't let me do anything.

What is the model of the Thinkpad? Would you be willing to sell it?
