How's everybody doing? I need some help in making a diet to get into shape. I'm 5'8/160lbs. Here is the catch, my parents are vegetarian and quite religious. They don't allow meat inside the home, but don't have a problem, if I eat it outside. I was wondering if somebody could help me with giving me alternative products to eat, that are high in protein, low in fat as in meats. What is everybody's opinion about tofu?

At the moment, for my source of protein I eat the artificial whey protein as well as meat such as salmon, turkey, chicken, etc etc.

I eat a lot of tofu and other soy products. 99% of the posters here will tell you not to eat it because it promotes estrogen, but there aren't really any definate studies going one way or another. And you don't have to eat meat to create a good diet. If your parents are veg, can't they help you?

Yeah, but we eat at odd ours, due to my parents work schedule. My dad gets back from work at around 7:00 and we start eating dinner at 7:30. I know it's not that healthy to eat that late at night.

You've been misinformed. It doesn't matter (depending upon what you eat).

Most nutritional related questions are answered in the NUTRITION edu. Since it is by your assessment a "simple" question, don't you think it's probably been answered before?

Hey, not trying to be a jerk but you should read the Nutritional info sticky at the top of this forum.

All of your answers, plus more, are inside!

Yeah, soy is great. I eat edamame straight up like I would a snack. It's high in protein but you would have to watch the starch.

Eggs are good too, but be careful if you like the yolks too. They are high in cholesterol and can mess you up if that's how you'd prefer to get the bulk of your protein.

I like putting egg whites in my tuna salad. :)

:wtf: did I say my parents are ignorant? My dad is a physician and he knows how important it is to have a good diet. However, just our religion restricts from eating it. Just :gtfo: out next time cock sucking asshole.

I've never heard a Hindu or Jainist talk like this.

Listen we know you're coming from a vulnerable, insecure position but the advice you're gonna get is the truth.

There are no crazy pills or magic bullets to get you what you want. The answers are here or in the nutrition EDU.

Read them and let this thread die.

Hindu's are only not allowed to eat BEEf... Because they worship cows... Chicken. Fish. Pork. I think we are missing something. Is 1 parent jewish and the other hindu? I could see that limited your meat selection :noes:

Some Hindus do not eat or consume any product of any animal.
