So I'm buying a Canon EF 70-200 f/4L USM, but I've never used extenders before, and was thinking of getting one to go with the lens. I've read that you don't want to go over 1.4, but I've also seen reviews on the 2x that says it works well with this lens, other reviews that say it doesn't. Anyone have any experience with this or input?

I have the 4l, but no tc.

200mm is pretty long on a crop camera. :hsd:

I've used the 2x with a 70-200 2.8L and it worked, but the images looked like poop. I think it'll work with the 70-200 f4 but you have to manually focus and you'd only be able to use it outside on a bright day.

I doubt you'd find that combo very useful at all.

I'm thinking about seeing if the local shop has one I can rent or something to see how it turns out. I kind of doubt they do though.
