My girlfriend's cousin asked me if I would take a few pictures of them for their christmas card this year.

I don't do portraits often, but I feel very confident I can still give them a very nice shot to use. I'll likely be doing it outdoors, mid afternoon, hopefully it won't be too sunny out.

    And I'll use a SB600 as a fill flash.

Anything special I should know? or does anyone have any tips?

Also, what are some good christmas card poses, all I have in my head are engagement photos...

They are young, like 24-25 btw.

I have found early morning to be easier to shoot in. The light is easier to work with, and the temp is cooler. Here in TX the temp is a major thing :o

and you say g/f's cousin...is it their family? g/f and her cousin? is it a family? a bf/gf?

    Her cousin and her husband.

A couple. I asked her what she was looking for and she sent me some images from an engagement shoot. So that makes things easy. Basically standard pics and they want to do some "romantic" ones just for fun.

I'm gonna give them the full res shot for their card for free, but maybe they will order some prints off my smugmug :run:
