i got an itch for a .308. idk bolt action or semi.
my bolt action choice would be rem 700
semi auto i have a toss up between ar10 and m1a
an ar10 would be cool and easy mounting but i wanna get away from the black rifle image so thats why i like the m1a. semi auto is important because i go boar hunting and having semi auto is better. any advice on mounting scopes on m1a or ar10 vs m1a platform

I love my M1A I still haven't purchased good glass for it yet though :hs: Alot of different choices for mounts on the M1A though.

If you want to do it cheap get an AR10 if you have money to put into it get the M1A.

    I like my M-1A.

Mine is setup in a GI platform, it's probably not as accute as it could be. BUt I like my Artel scopes and is good enough for me.

Panther Arms makes some decent 308's, Don't know personally about the quality but I haven't heard anything bad about them, I haven't really been listening though either.

My dad stalk hunts hogs with a long bow, so I think a bolt action will work for you. Carry a sidearm if you're scared.

Personally, .308 is a little pricey for a semi auto.

I got in a FTF trade, its a Fulton rifle, 22", absolutely love it, well worth the couple hundred extra over the springfields IMO.

Go buy a Remington 700 SPS Varmint in .308, you'll be glad you did.

Buddy of mine has a real nice 16" DSA FAL for sale in Houston. Interested?

Edit, thought you were Houston crew, but he can ship... It's a 2004 model Stg.58. I think it's all stock except for a DSA top rail. I think he's looking for ~1000 for it.
